You’ll undertake traditional slate roofing –repair and renewal as well as wall building in old and historic buildings. You’ll also apply traditional and modern render or plaster finishes to exterior and interiors of buildings. You’ll be involved in groundwork and drainage repair and assist with the safe unloading, stacking, storing, checking and sorting of all materials at the base or on site. To do this all successfully, you’ll need to use all tools, equipment and materials in a good and professional manner and help to deal with emergencies as they arise. Summary As a team leader you will oversee a small team caring for our outdoor explore sites in the Lake District including car parks, hydro schemes and toilets across the property as part of the wider operations and commercial team. You will work along side and in partnership with a variety of other functions including membership recruitment, ranger and building teams. What you'll be doing You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of an efficient, effective and flexible facilities service at our outdoor explore sites to enable the successful operation of the National Trust property. Working within appropriate National Trust procedures and conservation guidelines you will lead a team ensuring high standards are delivered at all times. Responsibilities may include cash handling and banking of property income, cleaning, maintenance and restocking of toilet blocks, undertaking work place inspections, meter reads, data checks and basic maintenance of hydros, compliance monitoring and caretaking duties of visitor facilities including car parks and toilets. Who we're looking for To be successful in this role you'll need to able to have; Customer service experience dealing with the public in face to face situations. Good people skills, including supervising and line management, enabling good working relationships with other teams. Leadership qualities with some supervisory, coaching and training experience. Experience of working with volunteers. Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety procedures and experience of producing risk assessments and safety procedures for the maintenance operations of facilities and buildings. Experience of compliance and emergency procedures. Experience of practical estate work, walling, fencing etc. Great problem solving skills and experience of managing contractors. Empathy with the aims of the National Trust, with genuine interest in and knowledge of the work of the Trust. Full UK Driving Licence.
