Hartland House Residential Care Home

​Hartland House is run under the auspices of The Abbeyfield­­ Society and stands on the southern outskirts of Milnthorpe in Cumbria. 

It has extensive views over Dallam Park and surrounding countryside. The house is registered with and inspected by the appropriate government care regulator, The Care Quality Commission.

The day to day running of the house is in the hands of a qualified and highly experienced Management team, led by the Manager together with an Administrator and two Care Managers.  Additionally there is a total of 41 carefully selected care, kitchen and housekeeping staff providing 24-hour care. An ongoing commitment to high standards of staff training and development is maintained and we operate a full programme of statutory safety checks, carried out at the recommended frequency.

To assist the Head of Catering and Assistant Chef in the smooth running of all aspects of the catering department and help in anyway possible to enhance the residents dining experience. Responsibilities: 1. To promote at all times the good reputation of the home. 2. The washing, drying and when necessary, polishing of crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils. 3. To help make and serve breakfast. To prepare and serve coffee in a morning, lunch and tea. 4. Reset dining tables prior to next meal. 5. To maintain cleanliness of dining room carpet, dining tables and replenish fruit bowls. 6. Keeping condiments replenished. 7. Recording of temperatures. 8. Keeping the working environment clean and tidy whilst working. 9. Assist in the preparation of tea . 10. Completing cleaning schedules. 11. Security checks at end of shift. 12. Attend resident and staff meetings. 13. Attend training provided. 14. Adhere to Health & Safety, Infection Control procedures at all times. 15. Adhere to the Home’s Fire Regulation Policy, including regular fire training. 16. To ensure that information of a confidential nature is not divulged to third parties. 17. Gifts from past or present residents or relatives must not be accepted without the prior consent of the Head of Care or Manager. 18. To maintain and improve one’s knowledge and competence. 19. To carry out any other task/s as seen to be fit and necessary by the Manager, Head of Catering and Co-ordinating Senior Care Assistants. To provide supervised care for the home’s residents. To join together with other members of staff in order to provide the individual care required by each resident, ensuring that they retain as much of their dignity and individuality as possible. To assist and provide the highest possible standards of care to create a homely and happy environment. Take an active part in the general activities of the home. To carry out light domestic duties. Responsibilities: 1. To promote at all times the good reputation of the home. 2. To carry out the instructions of the Senior Care Assistant, bringing to their attention any observed change in the residents’ health or manner. 3. Assist the residents with personal tasks. These may include washing, toileting, dressing and undressing. 4. Help residents who have limited mobility or physical disabilities, making the best use of the aids provided. 5. Assist in the control of incontinence, providing comfort and dignity. 6. Assist in giving stimulation to residents by conversation and by helping them continue with hobbies or taking part in the home’s activities. 7. Respond by answering Nursecall alarms, telephone calls or door bells. Carry out checks on all residents as dictated by the plans of care. 8. Care for residents who are temporarily unwell. 9. Help and care in a dignified manner for residents who are dying. 10. Welcome all visitors into the home and give any assistance that may be required. 11. Make and change beds as required. Carry out light domestic duties as required. These may include the cleaning of any communal areas within the home’s toilets and bathrooms. Disinfect and cleaning of commodes. Tidying of residents’ wardrobes and drawers. 12. Tend to residents who need help. Dispense beverages at applicable times, wash and dry crockery etc. Prepare snack type meals and drinks as required. 13. Check, label, repair and launder all residents’ clothing. 14. Assist with all aspects of the home’s linen and laundering processes. 15. Take an active role in staff and residents’ meetings. Attend training sessions as and when required. 16. Adhere to and assist with the updating of the Home’s Quality management system. 17. Adhere to the Home’s Health & Safety Policy at all times. 18. Adhere to the Home’s Fire Regulation Policy, including regular fire checks around the home at predetermined intervals. 19. To ensure that information of a confidential nature is not divulged to third parties. 20. To maintain and improve one’s knowledge and competence. 21.
