From January 2021, or September 2020 if possible, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding person as the Deputy Head (Academic) to succeed Simon Fisher, who has been appointed Head Master of Dover College.

The Deputy Head (Academic) is a key figure in the Senior Leadership Team, leading on the academic life within the school, developing and implementing a vibrant, broad curriculum that stimulates, challenges and excites, through the leadership of the Heads of Departments.

Ultimately, you’re an outstanding teacher who has a genuine passion for driving education programmes and standards forward. You will be responsible for the development of the curriculum and the quality of teaching in the School. You will oversee the academic progress of students, including public examination outcomes.

You will have a demonstrable record of excellence in overall school leadership. You may, for example, have led a strong academic department and been responsible for a team of academic staff. You will have imaginative ideas about education in the modern context.

You will be a strategic thinker, able to look at the long term, and be an inspiring leader who is capable of driving the School’s academic vision forward and building on the excellent progress that Simon Fisher has achieved for the School in his five years in the role.
