Hello, we’re the Pension Protection Fund. We protect millions of people in the UK who belong to defined benefit pension schemes. Our members rely on us to look after their pensions if their employers collapse and the pension schemes cannot afford to pay what they promised.
We are looking for a Newly Qualified Actuary or Finalist level to join the team and provide actuarial advice to the Board by carrying out and checking a range of actuarial, quantitative finance or modelling processes.
Reporting to the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO), we are the in-house “Scheme Actuaries”, valuing our Fund’s liabilities on an annual basis and monitoring them every month. We also help produce the Purple Book and the monthly 7800 Index, regular health checks on the universe of eligible schemes still out there in the UK.
The role will be responsible for the calculation and sign-off of actuarial models, planning and development of cross team work, making recommendations, implementing process changes and improvements within the team and presenting the results of actuarial work to relevant committees.
Our ideal applicant will be either a Newly Qualified Actuary or currently at the final stages of their qualification and looking for an opportunity within a highly supportive environment that will be able to give variety to their working day. If you have previous experience of working within the pensions industry or life insurance industry it would be beneficial but not essential.
