Purpose of the Role:

The role is part of the Finance Controllership team of the Ardonagh Group, which comprises senior individuals including the Group Financial Controller. The role will report to the Head of Technical Accounting & Advisory and will be responsible for addressing complex, significant and one-off accounting issues (involving IFRS, FRS 102 and FRS 101) impacting the entire Ardonagh Group, as well as significant issues specific to individual segments/divisions.

Job Description:

The role will be responsible for:

Revenue recognition;
Hedge accounting/ financial instruments;
Share-based payments;
Lease accounting;
Acquisitions/disposals accounting (the Ardonagh Group is highly acquisitive);
Goodwill impairment;
Transitioning subsidiaries from FRS 102 to FRS 101;
Financial statements review;
Group accounting policy manual;
Numerous other complex accounting matters.

Ardonagh is a large (circa 7,000 employees and growing), acquisitive and highly complex private-equity backed group. This role requires a technically-minded person who is delivery-focussed and a doer.

Strong oral and written communication skills are a prerequisite. You will interact on a regular basis with senior individuals, auditors and legal advisors.

Ardonagh recently announced that it will not be renewing the lease on its head office and that its Group functions, including Controllership and the Group CFO, will be home-based henceforth (not just whilst coronavirus persists), but with some travel to London (expected to be approximately once per fortnight).
