Sheffield Forgemasters is currently looking for Production Fitter.
The role entails performing dimensional inspection activities utilising both manual and laser inspection (API Tracker system) techniques at all stages of manufacture, on high integrity forgings and castings.
You will inspect the castings and forgings in line with customer contracts and requirements, ensuring high quality standard.
The main duties of the role are as follows:
Adhere to all Company H&S Systems of work and Procedures. Ensure Health & Safety of work areas is managed appropriately
Read and understand engineering drawings and geometric tolerance
Surface texture improvement and geometric forming using a variety of hand tools
Manufacture of bespoke fittings and parts in the Tool Room facility by turning, milling or grinding
Bench fitting using a variety of hand tools
Shrink fitting of components using hot oil bath or liquid nitrogen techniques
Assemble pressure vessel parts for hydraulic testing
Perform hydraulic testing in test facility
Working closely with Customer’s representatives/Inspection agencies during hydraulic testing activities
Competent in the use of measuring equipment such as internal and external micrometers, verniers, pi tapes, slip packs and component specific gauging packages
Assist with training/mentoring of apprentices
Sign off traveller packs on completion of Inspection operations
Undergo training at external source as necessary to meet order book contractual requirements
Hardness testing using Jackman or King Brinell equipment
Fork lift truck
Candidates must have:
Ability to read engineering drawings
Competent in the use of external and internal micrometers, verniers, slip packs
Experience in the field of Inspection or Machining
Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of use of manual measuring equipment;
(Depth gauges, Vernier Callipers, PI Tapes, Tape Measure, Rules, Presidents Putty, Shadowgraph, Radii Gauge, Protractor & Inclinometer)
Experience in Visual Fair Reporting Software
Good communication skills
Ability to work as an individual as well as part of a team
Our ideal candidate will also have:
IT proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Days/Hours of Work:
You will work a 2 shift pattern rotation of Mornings and Nights, Monday – Friday
Morning shifts – Monday – Friday 06:00-14:00 and Night shifts – Monday – Thursday 20:00-06:00
This will equal to an average of 37.5 hours per week.
