Are you looking for night shift work? Could you support young people with learning disabilities?

We love what we do and are recognised as an award winning charity for our passion and dedication. Come and join us a Waking Nights Support Worker in St Albans and you'll soon see why! We have hours open for both full and part time night staff.

Outline

We are a recently opened residential children’s home in St Albans and are looking to expand our team. We’re looking for full-time and part-time Waking Nights Support Workers to provide support for up to five children and young people, aged 11 to 18, who have learning disabilities and complex needs.

You'll be available when they are wakeful at night and check at regular intervals to ensure they are comfortable and getting a good night's sleep ready for school or college the next day. You will need to provide support with intimate care. This is an important role to make sure the young people don’t feel vulnerable during the night, especially as they will be in new surroundings.

Full-time hours are 38 hours a week, with part-time contracts by negotiation.

About us

MacIntyre is an award-winning national charity. We provide innovative support for children, young people and adults who have learning disabilities.. We are expanding our services for children and young people around the country, providing real options in life for those who need them most.

About you

It would be helpful if you have experience working with people with learning disabilities in a care setting, but this isn’t essential as we will provide a full induction and ongoing training and support from the home manager and our expert teams. What's important is that you share our values, have a positive approach and are willing to learn. As part of your training we support you in working towards achieving your CYP Diploma Level 3, a qualification which can cost around £3,000 if you funded this yourself.

The role might be a good fit if you have a particular interest in psychology, or making a career in the field of autism. Students on social care or nursing courses often find our waking night roles suitable.
