The Role

Sheffield Forgemasters is currently looking for a Production Fitter.

As a skilled Production Fitter you will provide key support to ensure that the Machine Shop engineering processes are effectively operating and maintained to meet the business needs and customer requirements.

You will work within given procedures and requirements adhering to standards set.

The main duties of the role are as follows:

Ability to work with engineering drawings
Competent in the use of measuring equipment such as internal and external micrometers, verniers, pi tapes, slip packs and component specific gauging packages
Manufacturing bespoke items in the tool room area by turning, milling and surface grinding
Bench fitting using a variety of hand tools
Use of pneumatic hand held power tools
Surface texture improvement and geometric forming
Shrink fitting of components using hot oil bath or liquid nitrogen techniques
Assemble pressure vessel parts for hydraulic testing
Perform hydraulic testing in test facility
Hardness testing using Jackman (Fixed installation) and King Brinell (Portable) equipment
Working closely with Customer’s representatives/Inspection agencies during hydraulic testing activities
Assist with training/mentoring of apprentices
Sign off traveller packs on completion of Inspection operations
Undergo training at external source as necessary to meet order book contractual requirements
Crane Driving
Fork lift truck

Candidates must have:

Proficient in use of pneumatic/hand held tools
Ability to read engineering drawings
Competent in the use of external and internal micrometers,verniers & slip packs
Ability to demonstrate good understanding of using manual measuring equipment
Previous experience in a similar role within an engineering/manufacturing environment
Apprenticeship trained or demonstrate experience of ability to understand and absorb the principles and procedures of applicable methods
Good communication skills
Ability to work on own and as part of a team

Day/Hours of Work:

Average 37.5 hours per week on a 2 shift system of Mornings and Nights

Mornings: Mon-Fri 06:00-14:00 & Nights: Mon-Thurs 20:00-06:00
