Spanning a 64 acre site, the Company has embarked on a significant business wide transformation programme to diversify into other sectors, building on strengths and continually developing capabilities, whilst driving operational excellence to achieve long term sustainability.

We are looking for a Technical Quality Engineer to help assist our Customer Programmes department, to assist with quality aspects associated with systems, documentation and Product Quality relating to the AWE work-streams.

Key tasks:

Close cooperation and coordination to support AWE Project Managers.
Develop a good understanding of the quality requirements associated with the Client and the Project.
Document preparation and collation for final documentation package, create despatch paperwork such as bills of lading etc. and arrange the physical process of despatch (count, pack, transport etc.)
Support the Document Controller with the transmittal and receipt of documentation.
Liaise with all relevant internal departments to ensure both in house and subcontracted manufacture remains in accordance with the required quality and processes.
Work with the Technical Teams to resolve any technical issues through the appropriate channels
Issue concessions, deviations and NCRs as appropriate.
Arrange and support third party/customer inspection visits and attend any internal inspection points.
Internal and external reporting
Lead internal and subcontractor audits as advised by the Quality Department - Quality auditing experience/qualified lead auditor qualifications would be desirable.
Take part in both internal and external project meetings.
Reading, understanding and interpreting technical engineering drawings with technical and shop floor staff.
Ensure project compliance with internal SFIL Quality requirements.
Understand the manufacturing and documentation requirements associated with in-house and sub-contract manufacture.
Perform internal and sub-contractor audits as required.
Coordinate, review and collate manufacturing records.
Provide a Monthly update on QA activities
Manage the supply chain (expedite orders, technical queries, deliveries etc.)
Attend training courses where necessary.
Be open to knowledge transfer where appropriate.

Essential Criteria:

Qualified to Degree level, or with significant relevant experience
Have, or be able to obtain, a minimum of Baseline Security Clearance
Literate and numerate
A solid understanding and appreciation of the principles underpinning Quality Management Systems
Able to read, understand and interpret technical engineering drawings
Familiar and competent with MS Office
Able and willing to travel
Good organisational skills
Excellent proven interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels
Attention to detail
Able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and proactively when required, while ensuring Project team members are kept informed

Our ideal candidate will also have:

Quality auditing experience/qualified lead auditor qualifications.
Able to understand technical and manufacturing terminology, and converse with all levels from shop floor to senior management
A demonstrated ability and experience of performing audits
Experience working within a complex Project environment with exposure to, and interaction with clients

Contract: Permanent 37.5 hours per week. Our standard office hours are: 07:45 - 16:00 however flexibility is essential for the requirements of this position
