You will have a demonstrable track record of providing expert Health & Safety advice, guidance and support, along with promoting a pragmatic approach within a housing or customer focused environment.
To help us deliver an excellent service we are looking for someone who has:
A proven track record of delivering improvements as a health and safety professional
The ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team
A NEBOSH or IOSH health and safety qualification or equivalent
Ability to influence behaviour at all levels
Excellent organisational skills and an ability to work in a busy department and prioritise workloads
Confidence and excellent presentation skills
IT literacy with competency in Word, Excel and Outlook
Can lead by example
As we are a diverse organisation, if you have sector specific experience such as social housing, construction or care, then this would be advantageous to the post.
What will you be doing?
You will take up a role of Health & Safety Assistant, which has previously been based in our South Wales office in Cardiff, although due to current agile working arrangements we will consider applications from candidates across South Wales. The team consists of a Health and Safety Manager and three Health & Safety Officers based in our Cardiff office, and one in our North Wales Office.
The post would typically be based out of our head office; nevertheless, as we are operating in unprecedented times, due to COVID 19, the safety of our staff is paramount. As such, as with the recruitment process, induction will involve a high degree of virtual interaction and strict social distancing will apply. Flexible working arrangements with appropriate equipment and support will be provided as necessary.
The main areas of responsibility in this role are:
To be an active member of the Health and Safety team, supporting the team and deputising where necessary.
To be the first point of contact for, and deal with all enquiries internally and externally for all health and safety related queries including providing advice and guidance.
To assist the Health and Safety Manager and the Health and Safety Officers in the administration and monitoring of all aspects of health and safety support and in the delivery of Health and Safety action plans.
To research, initiate and participate in the development of initiatives to address Health and Safety issues and proactively support a positive health and safety culture.
To develop, organise and support the Health and Safety Manager and Officers in the delivery of Health and Safety training sessions.
