About the vacancy:

As Fire Safety Officer you will take a lead role for fire safety for the business to ensure residents, staff, contractors and the general public are safe in their homes / buildings and to support NCH meet its statutory duties as a landlord in accordance with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and health and safety regulations.

You will be the Association’s expert in Fire Safety and take the lead on providing recommendations and you will also be the point of contact with South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, this will include communicating by providing a written response to fire safety enquiries.

Specifically the Fire Safety Officer will:

Ensure fire risk assessments are carried out within defined frequency with recommended actions / remedial work to be correctly risk scored, prioritised and completed actions closed down accordingly.
Provide major remedial work recommendations to the asset management / capital works team to allow a planned programme of work to align future budget provision to deliver capital work projects.
Be responsible for updating accurate fire safe information stored within the compliance database and to ensure the database is constantly verified to capture all properties and buildings owned by NCH are contained within the system to allow fire risk assessments are in place.
Provide fire safety reports to the compliance manager with relevant information that will include performance reports for NCH audit and risk committee, executive team papers and to meet audit requirements / recommendations.
Take a lead role chairing fire safety meetings, taking accurate meeting notes and liaise with fire safety consultants / industry experts to clarify fire safety matters for the business.
Provide assurances when responding to resident’s fire safety concerns and to provide relevant fire safety advice and guidance to colleagues and external contractors.
Be the fire safety expert for NCH and to be the point of contact with South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, this will include communicating by providing a written response to fire safety enquiries.
