This is a great opportunity for you to join one of the UK’s most trusted social housing providers.

Citizen own and manage 30,000 homes across the West Midlands, including diverse communities from urban tower blocks to rural villages and towns; but we provide more than housing – our homes are a foundation for life.

We are proud to be an organisation which deals directly with the consequences of our housing crisis by providing homes for people who can’t access them on the market.

We are a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity. All the money we make goes back into improving our homes and services and building new homes so that we can help more people.

Working for Citizen not only offers you the chance to work for an award-winning, big-hitting organisation in the West Midlands, it gives you the opportunity to work for an organisation with a heart and a clear social purpose.

It doesn’t matter which function you work in, being part of our team will give you the chance to play your own part in making a very real difference to people’s lives.

To join us you will have the ability to take ownership and responsibility for delivering a consistently high level of service within your team and across the business as a whole. You’ll be positive, optimistic and solutions-focused in everything you do even in the face of challenges, and you will believe passionately in the social value derived from delivering outstanding services to Citizen customers and colleagues.

A positive attitude and a solution focussed approach is essential. The role requires a very strong commitment to excellent customer service in all activities. Having the right approach to promoting this and dealing with customers politely and professionally and having a commitment to continually improve service is important. You will have excellent verbal communication skills to enable effective liaison with tenants, colleagues and outside agencies. You will be responsible for ensuring the staff you manage and the resources available to you are focussed on keeping our people and buildings safe and achieving positive outcomes in a manner that is compliant, effective and efficient. You will need to assess and deal with emergency situations and incidents and call out the appropriate personnel and where necessary help make the situation safe. This may require the management of an incident until others can take over. You will always be expected to promote and champion safety and safe working.

For this role you will need to be a competent IT user, have a full UK driving licence and be willing to fulfil a range of tasks including some outdoors. Physically able to undertake the walking of stairs in high rise buildings you will also be expected to undertake some lifting, pushing etc. To be successful you will need to have the aptitude to utilise CCTV and Door Entry systems with the willingness to acquire additional skills and train and support others. So, if you think you have the technical know-how and can demonstrate the people skills we’re looking for, we really want to hear from you.

At Citizen we are committed to diversity and inclusion, encourage flexible working where appropriate and positively welcome applications from everyone.
