The Sheffield College is committed to improving the work and life prospects for all learners. It believes in providing a holistic approach to support a student and the Employer Relationship Coordinator role is fundamental to this. The College has been successful in piloting a curriculum where the student will spend 315 hours in an external work placement. This is line with the start of the new T levels from 2021.
This is an exciting post to drive the engagement of employers for work placements and work related projects to enhance the employability and progression opportunities for our students, particularly those embarking on technical level qualifications. The post holder will work with Faculty teams, local and regional employers and other stakeholders to drive the quality and scope of work experience to achieve outstanding student outcomes.
A key aspect is the ability to interact with the learner to jointly identify challenges and find solutions to overcoming barriers to industry placements. You will work closely with curriculum teams, employers and support teams to monitor every learner’s progress. This involves agreeing stretching employability targets with the learner, reviewing progress during their placement via timely 1:1’s and motivating learners to monitor their own placement

Support curriculum teams, students and employers to plan and deliver industry placements
Assess students’ readiness for the industry placement, agree and implement individual employability development plans
Agree a work placed action plan with employers, curriculum teams and assess student performance against agreed plan
Liaise with the Health and Safety team and employers to ensure all industry placements comply with the college policy
Assess and evaluate industry placements from both employers’ and students’ perspectives
Increase levels of employer engagement with existing and new organisations in the local business community
Deliver a high quality, responsive customer focussed service to employers
Administration support for the Industry Placement Team
Support the work with departments to implement an effective cross college approach to Industry placements
Work collaboratively with the Employer Engagement team to raise the profile of the College in the local community
Develop productive working relationships with employers to achieve outstanding outcomes for students
Act as the main point of contact for work placements with employers
Skills and Qualifications
Role holders are likely to have at least a Level 4 qualification together with significant periods of relevant work experience. Experience is likely to be evidenced through a series of progressively more demanding roles.
GCSE English Language and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or other Level 2 equivalent
