Ombudsman Services is a not-for-profit private limited company established in 2002 which runs a range of national ombudsman schemes across different sectors including energy, communications and an appeals service in private parking.

This is a new role created at an exciting time as Scotland is undergoing a transformation in the way it seeks to protect consumers. It’s about establishing our role in Scotland as a key partner with the Government, regulators and other organisations (such as Ofcom, Citizens Advice Scotland and Advice Direct Scotland), to help further the interests of Scottish Consumers.

Though primarily focussed in Scotland, given the dependency on national policy, the role will also have the opportunity to contribute to wider UK public affairs activity.

Essential Experience and technical Qualifications

Experience of working in public affairs within Government (local or national), a regulator or consumer body, or an externally facing role within a regulated company
Excellent understanding of the Scottish political and regulatory environments.
Knowledge or experience of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process and established ADR schemes in the UK would be beneficial.
Experience of influencing policy externally in either the public or private sector.

We have attached a job specification for further details on the role.

This role is likely to be predominantly home based. Some travel across Scotland and the UK will be required. We are ideally looking for a full-time role but willing to consider part-time arrangements for the right candidate.
