About the role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cambridge University Press for a Solutions Architect to join a dynamic Technology team that’s responsible for the technical design, implementation, delivery and support of eLearning solutions for English Language Learners and Teachers around the world.

Our current focus is on a range of exciting new strategic initiatives spanning learning and assessment products, marketing, and new sales models. Our team contributes by providing technical expertise and guidance across all aspects of technology and by designing innovative technology solutions and experiences for our customers (both internal and external). These include development of online learning and teaching experiences, school administration systems, marketing portals, ecommerce solutions and more. We also explore and research cutting edge solutions for modern classrooms in areas such as machine learning, augmented content, virtual reality or natural language processing which creates exciting opportunities for training and experimentation with leaders in the fields.

You will be embedded in a cross functional agile development team working on Ecommerce solution as a Technical Product Owner, working closely with product owners, scrum masters, UI/UX, developers and QA. You will be responsible for the technical analysis of business requirements on the backlog and for ensuring that the technical design addresses the needs in the most effective way and is in line with the technical strategy and central architectural governance. The solution design may include evolving existing platforms, integrating with central business systems or researching and commissioning suitable new technologies and partners.

About you:

You will have a strong technical background, worked with full stack of web technologies, tools and APIs, and can prove that you maintain current knowledge of toolsets, standards and frameworks.

You have experience in designing customer solutions by integrating internal business systems, procuring new solutions, and extending the existing technical estate to accommodate new use cases.

You must be able to work at all levels of solution abstraction, from understanding the finer details of web technologies and implementations, to producing high-level system/platform solutions.

You have experience of technical business analysis and understanding of how requirements should be expressed to inform solution choices and feed into development.

You have great interpersonal and communication skills and can translate business needs into technology options and make technology concepts accessible to business colleagues.

You’ve experienced full life-cycle of development of technology solutions, ideally in an agile environment.

You are a highly motivated self-starter and can work independently as well as knowledge share to support the growth of expertise within the team. Collaboration is the key to success in our team.

You are a pragmatic problem solver and creative thinker who enjoys complexities and challenges.
