Job role:

We are seeking to appoint a proactive teaching assistant to build capacity within our new educational support team at Sheffield Park Academy. We are looking to recruit someone with a child centred approach and excellent people skills to support students effectively in order for them to fully participate in learning. We are looking to recruit two new individuals to form a three person team who will support our teaching staff to provide dedicated support to small groups of key stage 3 and 4 students who are unable to fully participate in mainstream classes. Main duties will include:

Support and encourage students to interact and engage in learning activities set by their teachers.
Promote good student behaviour, support teachers and senior staff in managing student behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate.
Design and lead on structured break and lunch activities for students within the targeted high support group provision.
Lead on citizenship programmes that develop the knowledge, skills and understanding that students need to play a full part in society as active and responsible citizens.
Be aware of student problems/progress/achievements and report to their teachers as agreed.
Maintenance of student records under the direction of the class teacher / your line manager.
Provide support for students, including those with special educational/health needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students.
Establish good relationships with students, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding to individual needs.
Assist the teacher to supervise and support students ensuring their safety and access to learning.
