What are we looking for?
As the successful Category Manager – New Markets you will ultimately be responsible for promoting the supervised category in the country/region with full ownership and an entrepreneurial mindset. Steering and optimizing the local category regarding the fulfillment of market share, turnover & profitability targets. You will also define, budget and coordinate category-specific marketing & sales activities in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders (internally & externally). This includes:

Commercial strategy

Deployment of a local category development plan (category targets, strategy, budget incl. matching with HQ roadmap). Bottom up planning 3 years out

Analysis of market, competitor information and consumer insights
Identification of growth levers in new and existing markets quantification of growth potentials
Identify go to market strategy
Forecast of stock – customers/demand planner
Creation of business case’s presented ROI on projects

Activity planning & budgeting

Close working with HQ to define all aspects of project work
Develop country strategy for all Go To Market elements including product definition, pricing, distribution channels , marketing and sales strategy
Act as UK ambassador within project team
Be main point of contact in country for the project
Promotional sales, define lines included, sign off and definition of USP’s
Definition of annual category action plan
Setting of framework & topline sell-out priorities
Sell-out reporting – define why activities/products are working, not working
Check of credibility/accuracy of central communication claims in local market to ensure adherence to brand guidelines and legal requirements
Work with legal on product claims, testing and ASA requirements

Customer negotiations

Lead project/product section during major account negotiations
Lead opening of new sales channels where necessary
Preparation of a sell-in argumentation and category story-line including assortment, technical topics, competitors and market trends

Implementation, support & tracking

Implement the project development plan according to defined milestones
Tracking and review of effectiveness and efficiency of activities, budget utilisation, target achievements (market share, turnover, profitability)
Provide regular reports to al lproject stakeholders
Management of local product tests with test institutes
Coordinate product related activities by monitoring and steering of stock availability together with supply chain
Monitoring of Profitability by category and Vib, propose amendments where necessary

Communication of success in project in terms of milestones and progress

Who are we looking for?

A successful Category Manager would have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in category management or a sales role within the consumer goods/electronics or FMCG industry. You will also have:


Experience in generating consumer/shopper insights
Experience in analyzing & interrupting market data (such as GFK)
Execution of campaigns and activities in close collaboration with sales functions and marketing

Experiences in managing budget to activities (ROI)
Previous experience of managing, defining project scope and objectives
Experience of developing and managing a detailed project schedule and work plan


Ability to leverage the synthesis between marketing and sales

Ability to convince other stakeholders in supporting category initiatives
First experiences in planning, structuring and leading negotiations with retailers
Industry/product knowledge (preferably)
Strong communication and presentation skills

Commercial minded
Ability to prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements

Strong PC skills – including Microsoft Excel & Powerpoint
