Some of your responsibilities: Learn the tendering process and provide input and support to the Commercial team as appropriate. Produce drawings and related design information at tender stage, pre-start, and during construction on site, assessing on-site requirements during contracts as necessary. Communicate effectively with Project Managers & Contract Managers to ensure detailed design programmes and deliverables are developed for each project at the various stages, as appropriate. Lead a contract for a design having learnt all systems, procedures and processes Possess an understanding of the sequencing of design activities in preparation and during an Astins contract. Understanding and implementation of design information, following set procedures to ensure accurate auditable records are kept and turnaround times through third parties (main contractor and manufacturers) are properly managed. Awareness of quality control procedures and remain compliant with authorisation and approval processes both internally and externally. Provide support in and preparing relevant technical information, including drawings, calculations, submissions, and other documents for presentation to clients, as directed by the Design Manager. Learn and use relevant computer applications where necessary, i.e. Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD. Essential: Previous experience working in Design for a construction company, or relevant manufacturer of construction products General Industry knowledge Work to tight deadlines Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD Efficient in the use of design software and Microsoft Office Suite Numerate and accurate with fanatical attention to detail Logical and well organised with the ability to prioritise Self-motivated to lead and achieve the highest levels of excellence Delivery focused with a passion for results A positive response to pressure Able to work alone and in a team Takes initiative Desirable: Presentation skills are written and verbal Enjoys working with people from different professional and trade backgrounds Willing and able to travel, when required Want to talk more about this? Agree selection of suitable Subcontractors for works packages. Approves the competency of Subcontractors for inclusion on the Subcontractor's Approved List. Maintains and reviews the Approved List of Subcontractors in accordance with the Departmental procedures. You should have: Ideally the successful candidate will ideally have experience within new build residential developments, however, due to the nature of his particular projects, our client would be interested in Quantity Surveyors from a main contracting or developer background Will have a minimum of HNC in a construction related subject.
