Are you an inspirational leader with a strong commercial background? Do you relish the opportunity to make your mark by implementing our vision for Seaton Jurassic, an award winning visitor centre on the beautiful East Devon coast?
Since it was opened by HRH The Princess Royal in April 2016, Seaton Jurassic has engaged over 80,000 people with the unique marine, coastal and geological heritage of the East Devon coast. The Centre includes a café, shop, a tourist information centre and a highly innovative interpretation centre. It has won many accolades and enjoys excellent visitor feedback.
Your challenge will be to make the Centre a commercial success, increasing footfall, enhancing the café and retail space and building up the events and other income streams. You will provide inspirational leadership to the Centre’s staff, drive the sales and revenue across the commercial functions of the Centre and provide operational management, acting as spokesperson for the Centre in the press and publically. There will also be great opportunities to develop and expand the Centre, linking it to surrounding attractions such as the Seaton Wetlands.
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated individual who shares the values of Devon Wildlife Trust and who has significant, successful commercial experience in a similar sector. You will have experience of managing staff and volunteers and be attracted to the challenge of tackling problems with a supportive team. You will have considerable autonomy, but you will need to bring your colleagues, the local community and key stakeholders with you.
Seaton Jurassic is owned by East Devon District Council and operated by the Devon Wildlife Trust, via a trading subsidiary (Devon Wildlife Services). Initially the post will focus exclusively on Seaton Jurassic and will be based at the Centre. However, in future the postholder will have the opportunity to take on the management of other visitor centres run by DWT.
Closing Date for applications: Monday 30 April 2018
