Role Description:

Our member Eira loves nothing more than a good natter about current affairs.

She used to love knitting and reading the newspaper but since the decline in her sight and vision she isn't able to do this anymore.

Eira would love to find a volunteer befriender to visit her once a week and chat with her about current affairs.

On nicer days she'd love to sit in her local park and have the newspaper read to her.

Eira uses a wheelchair when out and about - we offer full training on how to get her from A to B.

Eira communicates with clear speech.

Quality and Skills we are looking for:

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Volunteers
Good communication skills, particularly with regard to conversational skills
To be reliable and have a genuine interest to make a difference in lives of deafblind people
Patience and a warm and friendly attitude

What will we ask for in return?

A regular commitment of one weekly visit – usually 1-3 hours
We will need to undertake two references and a DBS check before this role can start
You will need to be over the age of 18 years to apply for this role
