We are currently recruiting for a Technical Services Manager (Maternity Cover) to be based in our Head Office in Heathrow.

As a Technical Services Manager (Maternity Cover) you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and improving continuously the technical components of Raw Material, Factory and Customer Specifications, Finished Product Label Copy and Vendor Management systems in order to improve due diligence. You will be also responsible to ensure best practice in these areas is shared across Group sites.

Key responsibilities

Plan and control personal resources to achieve technical control and business plan targets
Maintenance of accuracy and currency of raw material, factory and customer specifications and product packaging
Documentation of system and procedures designed to control raw material vendor management; safety, quality consistency and legality of raw materials
Documentation of vendor management system. Review supplier performance and participate in supplier improvement programme
Prepare monthly Group technical reports for areas of responsibility (scorecards)
Liaise with customer technologists at appropriate level on pro-active technical management and periodic reporting
Liaison with third party agencies as appropriate
Participation in the implementation of an improved, automated specification uploading system to F8, and extraction of product packaging copy from F8
Develop outsourcing of raw material specification (through QADEX)
Review of supplier performance for out of specification results arising from microbiological sampling or other testing, and those non-conformances raised from supplier monitoring programme
Report periodically as scheduled on current technical and quality management issues; liaise with procurement on current/pending raw material issues; liaise with NPD on current/pending raw material issues
KPI/objective setting for suppliers within Vendor Management and Raw Material Specification supply programme; agree and review personal KPI/objectives
Monitor standards of acceptability for suppliers’ raw materials and specifications
Set and maintain supplier scorecard review schedule for suppliers against assurance programme
Develop technical standards to gain competitive advantage

This role is a full-time, working 40 hours per week. The working days are Monday to Friday and the working hours are from 8.30am to 17.00pm.

Experience of working in a fast-moving chilled manufacturing environment
A strong people person, who can demonstrate consistent standards and behaviours within a multicultural environment whilst leading to his / her team
Results focused individual who operates with an efficient work style, coupled with attention to detail and good time management, the ability to work to short deadlines
Understanding and experience of production processes and procedures
Knowledge of microbiological requirements for products and risk from raw materials
Understanding and experience of food legislation applicable to product categories manufactured and raw materials supplied
Ability to communicate at all levels, including presenting ideas and concepts to customer
Ideally degree or equivalent in Food related subject or another related field
Level 4 food safety qualifications
Confident decision maker
High level of computer literacy – Microsoft Excel/Word/internet and Outlook
