We are a committed, caring and creative organisation and we have achieved the award for being a Sunday Times Top 100 Best Company in 2013, 2015 and again in 2017. We aim to provide the best housing, services, care and support to residents and service users. To do this we want to recruit people of the highest caliber with the knowledge, skills and competence to perform effectively, whatever their role.
Paines Mill Foyer is a 19 unit project for young people between the ages of 16 and 25 years old and is staffed on a 24 hour basis 7 days per week. There are also 3 move-on houses accommodating 6 young people. Residents can live at the Foyer for a maximum of two years and during this time staff provide general counselling and support to residents helping them move into independent living.
We are looking to appoint a number of relief staff to assist young people in making the link between housing, training and employment, thus providing a stepping stone to independence.
You will be able to work flexible shift patterns, which will include weekend and late evening duties. It would be beneficial if you can demonstrate experience of working in training, education or support work and show a genuine interest in housing provision, as well as having an awareness of issues faced by young people.
As Relief Support Worker you will:
Work with residents to enable them to gain a sense of identity and confidence and help them to progress towards gaining further education, training and/or employment.
Encourage and develop life and social skills of residents.
Ensure that all new residents clearly understand the conditions of their licence agreement and are made familiar with house rules, fire regulations and other information relating to the well-being of the residents.
Be involved in developing individual support plans with residents, other project staff, support persons and outside agencies.
Give advice relating to welfare benefits, housing and employment, training or education.
Liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies on behalf of residents.
Ensure security and safety of the building and its contents.
Employment for this position will be conditional upon two satisfactory references (one from your current employer) as well as a satisfactory Enhanced Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
