Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe (MHPS-EU) is seeking to hire a Product Development Manager (PDM) to develop the aftersales of the service business of OOEM gas turbines. The Product Development Manager is the main focal point to lead the development of engineering, field service, local vendors and local procurement capability to provide end to end solutions to customers of OOEM gas turbines. The PDM shall understand the customer’s needs and shall revise and execute the product development business strategy in order to bring new OOEM business.
This position will be responsible for assisting the Vice President and Engineering/FS/PM/Commercial Directors for various Engineering, planning, Field Service, Program Management and commercial activities in a close collaboration with FS, PM, ENG, Sales & Marketing and Tendering & Commercial teams along with MHPS subsidiary companies across the regions.
Work closely (and lead when required) with the local procurement team for manufacturing of outage and repair consumables for OOEM GT and ST to reduce costs and lead time.
Develop technical presentation materials in coordination with sales and business development teams to promote MHPSE capability to increase market penetration.
Collaborate with commercial and PM teams to have general knowledge of LTSA and Service offerings to support the business development activities.
Prepare technical presentations/documents for Customers ensuring the timely communication of significant issues or developments.
Create and maintain the training documents relevant to the specific product line which will be used to increase the product knowledge responsible project team.
Provide the technical support to commercial/tendering/sales teams in customer negotiations as required.
Evaluate and Support internal discussions to assess the viability of tendering projects.
When necessary, representing MHPSE at conferences and exhibitions via attendance and/or presentations.
Identify and build a development programme to meet the strategy for OOEM business.
The creation of Purchase specifications to be issued to vendors by procurement to support local procurement, repairs, modifications and upgrades.
Act as interface between commercial, service and repairs for new business and tender opportunities where directed.
Develop technical data supporting development projects for OOEM repairs/local procurement consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
To prepare and write Gas/Steam Turbine Technical reports, technical procedures, etc.
Respond to internal and external customer requests for technical issue resolution, using technical product knowledge and analytical skills while adhering to sound engineering principles, standards, practices, procedures.
Escalate issues as required acting as the liaison between the commercial, CSE, PM and FS to drive specific technical resolution and to help engineering identify, drive corrective actions and solutions to meet customer requirements.
Establish and maintain relationships with customers to make customer technical issues/requirements understood and addressed in a timely manner.
Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting assigned project to resolve customer technical issues and requests.
Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Provide technical support to Tendering Team on new business development on technical proposal preparation, feasibility study, and technical risk assessment.
Monitor and report the key performance indicators (KPI) of Product Development team and to fulfil the targets set by the company and customer.
Responsible for preparing periodical / necessary reports of product development related issues and QMS status and progress.
Drive the cost reduction and component life extension programs to make our services competitive to customer.
Perform the competitor assessment on services, operational flexibility...etc. on a regular basis to enhance MHPSE competitiveness in the market.
Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree and above in Mechanical Engineering is required.
Experience: High level of experience in the power generation industry on Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine design, operation, repair, service, installation, Combustion tuning and commissioning.
Sound knowledge of large frame Gas turbines.
Proven experience on gas turbines and combined cycle structure and configuration.
Proven leadership experience and/or relevant qualifications.
A background in successfully developing and executing strategic plans to drive the business forward
Experience in Project Management preferred but not essential.
Skills and Knowledge:
Fluency in business English.
Highly skilled in producing technical reports.
Basic Knowledge of Accounting, Finance, Logistics and Administration.
High level knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project).
Understanding or experience of working within a multi-cultural and international organisation is essential and knowledge of Japanese language and/or culture would be an advantage.
Strong oral and written communication.
Strong skills in leadership, persuasion and diplomacy.
Ownership and responsiveness in handling customer problems.
Willing to work out of hours and weekends to support the resolution of emergency issues as and when required.
Ability and willingness to travel as and when required..
