Patrick Court, a project for Adults with Autism and Learning Disabilities is looking for caring, motivated and enthusiastic Support Workers to join their dedicated team in Burton Latimer. Support provided to these adults will be aimed at helping them live independently and do the same things you would do in everyday life; this could be anything from domestic tasks and personal care to accessing social/ leisure activities. Although the role is challenging, it is highly rewarding at the same time as the little things you do every day will have life-changing results for the people you support.
Requirements of Support Worker
Experience of supporting people with Autism and/learning disabilities
Caring, have empathy and desire to help others
Team player but able to work on own initiative
Demonstrate a robust and safe approach to dealing with challenging/complex behaviour
Resilient, confident yet professional and have a good sense of humour
Have basic numeracy and literacy skills
Use common sense, willingness to learn, follow instructions and apply training in everyday work
Flexibility as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week; mornings, afternoons, evenings and sleep-ins.
Driving Licence as you may be required to drive the Service Users’ mobility vehicle
Responsibilities of Support Worker
Write, implement and review support plans
Liaise with both internal and external agencies to provide a person-centered approach to Service Users
Domestic tasks i.e. cleaning, cooking , shopping and personal care ( bathing, toileting) where applicable
Support Service Users to manage finances and budget
Support Service Users to access the community and activities for Social Inclusion e.g. outdoor exercise, meals out, medical appointments
