These posts are 30 hours a week, 38 weeks a year. This could also be a job share role with two people working equal hours per week.

Have you considered a career in education?

Our education teams inspire young people with complex learning disabilities or other support needs by creating and making the most out of all opportunities for them to learn, grow and develop. Could you do the same?

MacIntyre is a leading UK provider of support services to people with learning disabilities. As part of this charity, No Limits provides education programmes to children and young people for whom more traditional learning environments may not have worked. No Limits provides an education programme which is purposefully designed to be right for them. We provide personalised education plans in the community for young people with learning difficulties and/or autistic spectrum conditions, and currently have vacancies in our No Limits East Midlands services, based in Leicestershire.

Because our Teaching Assistants work mostly out in the community rather than in a classroom setting, your job title would be Community Learning Facilitator (CLF). Your key task will be to deliver the education programmes to the learners you are working with. You will support the young person to work towards their education targets and your day might involve helping them learn how to use public transport; to take part in or watch sporting activities; to cook their own meals; or to improve their Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills. You will support the young person to learn practical life skills, and may assist them to attend work experience or college.

Because of the complexity of their learning difficulties, our young people are almost always supported in 2:1 teams, but some learners are supported 1:1 and therefore the role may involve lone working, often in the community. Some of the young people require support with intimate care or medication and they may, if feeling particularly anxious, show behaviours of concern. Full training in all of these areas will be given.

The work is both challenging and inspiring and you are ultimately supporting the young person in their education to prepare for their transition into adult life. We will provide you with an extensive and ongoing training programme and dedicated local support from your Team Coordinator.

About you

Perhaps you’ve worked in special education, as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant. Perhaps you've been a Support Worker in the social care sector. However, experience is not essential. For us, underlying ability and attitude are just as important as background and experience. If you have not worked in the field of education before then please don’t be put off. We can provide all of the specialist training you need, but we can't train you to be kind, to have initiative, to be friendly and patient; and those are essential qualities for this work.

You must hold a licence which allows you to drive in the UK, together with your own transport (can be a motorcycle or moped) with business insurance. You must be willing and able to travel across the area, supporting young people from their own homes. Reasonable mileage is reimbursed. You will also need a driving licence which has been clean for more than 1 calendar year.

GCSE (or CSE, O Level or equivalent) minimum C grade in English and Mathematics is also essential for employment as a Community Learning Facilitator.

However if you do not have these there may be scope for you to join our team as a Learning Support Worker (£7.90 per hour). Please contact us for more information. Tel: 0116 319 1500 or Email:
