Purpose of the role



To be an effective partner for the Close Brothers Asset Finance and Leasing (CBAFL) and Close Brothers Invoice Finance and Rentals (CBIF) businesses to ensure Compliance Risk is managed in a manner which preserves agreed risk appetite and supports business development.



The role involves working closely with the Divisional Leadership Team to ensure that they are provided with relevant advice and guidance on regulatory compliance matters in a timely and risk appropriate manner.



In addition, the role focuses on addressing regulatory issues that arise in CBAFL and CBIF operations in a timely manner, ensuring the business has appropriate policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and developing and maintaining a dialogue with key third parties.



Key responsibilities





Act as the main point of Compliance contact for the CBAFL and CBIF senior leadership teams:


Provide regular reporting to the Risk and Compliance Committees (RCCs)
Be an active participant in the RCCs, Board Meetings and Customer Forums
As necessary provide separate briefings to the Divisional CEO and other leadership team members on issues, regulatory developments, monitoring findings, policy changes etc
Understand the CBIF and CBAFL strategy and help ensure it is delivered in a manner which meets compliance obligations
Maintain effective relationships with key senior compliance stakeholders, in particular, Risk, Legal, Business Assurance, and Finance.
Provide information for the Head of Lending Compliance on the compliance and conduct risks and issues that exist and are emerging in the business and how these are being mitigated.
Oversee the operation of first line of defence processes in the business that have specific regulatory obligations attached (e.g. financial promotions, sanctions & PEP screening, complaints handling)
Ensure that the Compliance team prepares accurate reports and MI for inclusion in Board papers in a timely manner
Representing the Compliance team on projects and working groups as required
Ensure appropriate training on regulatory developments is provided to all relevant key staff.
Review any new business initiatives and work with the business to ensure that they comply with the relevant regulatory requirements.

Ensure that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the Regulatory Bodies are carried out to the standards required
