Shoreham Academy’s Business and Economics department is popular and expanding. We have three classes of GCSE Business (Edexcel) in both Year 10 and Year 11, as well as one class of GCSE Economics (OCR). We also have a growing 6th form with two AS classes and two A Level classes of Business (Edexcel). We have two classes of AS Economics and one class of A Level Economics (Edexcel A). An ideal applicant would be enthusiastic about teaching across the range of these levels and subjects. Within the faculty, there are a large number of students studying Level 2 Preparation for Working Life and Level 3 BTEC Travel and Tourism within the department and the successful candidate would potentially be involved in the delivery of these vocational lessons.
As the department is relatively small, it is vital we work well as a team. Within the department and also the wider faculty and academy group, we believe in collaboration and shared responsibility. We make extensive use of our VLE to work with both students and staff alike. We make good use of technology and aim for lessons to be student led. We have very high expectations of our students and therefore our staff are also encouraged to be the best they can be.
The Business and Economics department aims to inspire a love of the subject through engaging, challenging and diverse case studies. An ideal applicant would have relevant and enriching experience outside of teaching to bring to the classroom. We want to enrich our curriculum further through trips and clubs and the successful candidate would be expected to contribute to this development.
Shoreham Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children therefore all positions in the school will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).
