We have an opportunity for a Design Manager to join our Wates Building Services team in Basingstoke and be responsible for the functional leadership and management of design management resource on a major project.
Wates Building Services (WBS) can combine greater commerciality with an integrated approach across our supply chain.
This replaces traditional M&E procurement on some of Wates Construction’s projects, working with specialist sub-contractors to implement a tailored approach on a project-by-project basis. This in-house platform complements our established external supply chain and with our specialist in-house WBS technical teams fully integrated with the Wates Construction team, we can deliver greater value.
Key Accountabilities will include:
Manage the production of the Contractors Proposals, ensuring they are complete and unambiguous
Work with the Commercial Manager and Project lead to ensure MEP Consultant appointments are comprehensive and technically robust.
Provide advice and support to the wider building services team to ensure that the design intent and technical quality is achieved through all stages of design and that designs produced are of the highest quality
Manage the design on site with the assistance of other site based resource by implementing the design management procedures to ensure the timely production of information is issued, within budget, fully coordinated and buildable.
Audit the design produced by the Clients MEP consultant for compliance with Employers Requirements, regulations and design guides
Audit the Clients MEP consultants design for build ability, commission ability and end user operation
Interrogate the building physics model to ensure compliance with Building Regulations requirements
We are looking for a Mechanical bias Design Manager has a strong commitment to adherence of HSE legislation, and the ability to demonstrate knowledge of planning techniques, procurement and management systems, risk management, life cycle cost and value creation.
Alongside this you will be an effective communicator with a positive, passionate and engaging approach when supporting and educating the business.
