Title: Fitness Coach



Department: Operations



Reports to: Gym Manager



Hours: 40 hours a week full time





The role




Help and assist new & existing members to enjoy their visits, achieve their goals and become part of Pure Gym
Assist prospective members by conducting tours of the gym and helping them join Pure Gym
Conduct member inductions
Deliver group exercise classes
Conduct hourly standard checks around the gym
Clean and maintain the gym equipment
Encourage members to participate in the bi monthly gym challenges
To maintain excellent Brand Standards at all times and ensure the club is compliant with all H&S action points
To monitor our service delivery through (but not exclusively) , our induction KPI %, NPS scores and member feedback and to constantly seek to improve in these areas
To always look for opportunities to have quality interactions with our members by; saying hello and goodbye to as many members as possible, introduce yourself to everyone, don’t wait for them to come to you, observe members and make technique correction when required, regularly praise and encourage members and always exceed members expectations
Move with purpose and always look busy and proactive – i.e. not hanging around the desk, slouching, grouping with other staff members on the gym floor, rather always “on the go” looking for opportunities to add value to the members visit



To always innovate & challenge the norm to eliminate complacency and to stay ahead of the competition and to continually seek ways to improve our member experience and to feedback these ideas
To complete any other reasonable tasks as set out by the GM or AGM’s




The Person




Recognise members who need help and motivate them to set goals and to achieve them





Say hello and goodbye to as many members as possible whilst in the club even when not on shift





Know and use the names of your members





Introduce yourself to everyone, don’t wait for them to come to you





Observe members and religiously make technique correction when required





Regularly praise and encourage members





Demonstrate exercises to members one on one and in groups





Have fun and encourage your members and the rest of the club team to have fun





Moving with purpose – i.e. not hanging around the desk, slouching, grouping with other staff members on the gym floor, rather always “on the go” looking for opportunities to add value to the members visit





Set your members and your team regular challenges to enhance their Activeness





Always treat our members as you would like to be treated





Use your initiative and take ownership of situations to ensure the Golden rule is applied





Always be conscious of your body language and how you are perceived by members





Be proactive – seek out hot spots – i.e. approach our members before they have to approach you!




Skills and Experience



Must have a service focus and drive to help our members move more and increase the regularity of their visits




Needs to be an excellent communicator and be able to motivate members to achieve their goals





Must have excellent people skills





Needs to be an excellent listener





Must be adaptable to change





Needs a professional approach and manner





Must be a self-driven and competitive with a natural aversion to compromise





Must have a level 2 Reps certified fitness qualification






Fun and humour:




Help to create an environment where all employees enjoy themselves whilst at work and make a real contribution to the success of the club and business as a whole





Be fully involved in the creation of a fun, lively and creative atmosphere for all members





Submit any original ideas you may have no matter how bizarre to promote fun and aid retention
