• Milton Keynes
Are you patient, cheerful and kind? Could you support people with learning disabilities, helping them live life on their own terms?

Please note we are only able to accept applications from female candidates for this role due to personal care requirements.

We are looking for full-time (38 hpw) Support Worker to join the friendly team at our Supported Living service in the Bletchley area of Milton Keynes.

About the role

At this service we support two young women (in their early thirties) with learning and physical disabilities within their own home. You will assist them to live as independently as possible, to keep up with family and friends, and enjoy their interests and hobbies and keep their houses in good order. Both ladies are wheelchair users and require support with personal care.

Both ladies are very active in the community and enjoy a range of activities, these activities include shopping, fashion, swimming, cinema and theatre trips and drama classes, music and much more. They also enjoy taking part in and organising fundraising activities both for MacIntyre and other charities close to their hearts.

We are looking for applicants to fill a variety of shifts including late shifts, early shifts and weekends however we do run this as fairly as possible and aim to give all staff at least 1 in 3 weekends off.

Our early shifts begin at 07:00 and run through until roughly 14:30 to 15:30 depending on the support needs that day. Our late shifts pick up at the end of the early and continue until 22:00. You may also be required to work some bank holidays depending on the rota.

What we need from you

The two young women we support at this service are looking for staff who are enthusiastic, willing to try new things and who can gain a good understanding, over time, of their individual needs and conditions.

While it would be helpful if you have some experience working with people who have learning disabilities, this isn't essential, as we provide a full induction and free training programme. People join us from many different backgrounds, it's more important to us that you have a positive approach and are willing to learn.

It is essential for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be required to drive the service mobility vehicles.

(Please note that if you have any points on your licence this can affect insurance, so please declare these if you are invited to interview.)
