About the Department
The SSE Insurance function has a key part to play in protecting assets and liabilities arising from the many activities of the SSE Group, through the placement and administration of insurance coverage. In order to do so, we work in partnership with all SSE businesses (including certain Joint Venture organisations) to provide insurance solutions tailored to their specific needs while considering Group requirements. SSE operates in a highly regulated and competitive environment, and our role is to ensure that we gather, compile, analyse and recommend on the insurance strategy for our businesses, identifying opportunities to drive efficiencies and create value for SSE now, and in the future.
What is the Role?

Additionally, you'll support the development of insurance placements and the adherence to insurance procedures across the business. Maintaining awareness of developing risk issues and mitigating exposure through the placement of insurance coverage will also be a key part of the role. Competitive premium and coverage terms are of the highest importance and you'll need to engage with, and negotiate effectively with insurance brokers and insurance markets to ensure this is achieved. Whilst assisting in the annual renewal and budgeting processes you'll also engage with Finance colleagues on the Corporate recharge model.
An element of travel in the UK and Ireland will be necessary therefore a valid drivers licence is essential.

An understanding of statutory engineering inspection requirements would also be beneficial.
Previous experience of administering the insurance requirements for power generation, offshore gas and owner-controlled construction placements would be an advantage.
The role will also require an aptitude in assessing and commenting on insurance related issues emanating from contract negotiations - from both an employer and contractor/ supplier perspective
You should be confident and comfortable in dealing with senior internal and external stakeholders, be reliable and honest with strong negotiating skills as well as having the ability to clearly articulate insurance coverage issues with non-insurance colleagues.
