Efficient Natural Resources is an autonomous business, one of four sectors within Johnson Matthey, with revenues of circa £1 billion (circa £7 billion including precious metals) and operations worldwide. Platinum Group Metal Services (PGMS) is one of four businesses within the Efficient Natural Resources Sector that manages, distributes, refines and recycles precious metals and fabricates products using precious metals and related materials. The business unit also manufactures platinum group metals, minor metal compounds, organometallics and fine metal powders for high technology applications, as well as providing a range of management services for platinum group metals.

We are currently seeking an Environment, Health and Safety Advisor who will form part of the existing EHS team and assist the EHS Manger on all matters relating to the management of EHS within R&C Royston facilities. The purpose of the role will involve proactively participating within the EHS team and offering solutions to many situations as they arise, alongside actively promoting and supporting a positive EHS culture.

Key responsibilities
  • To provide advice, support and coaching to site. To deal with day to day EHS related operational issues
  • To support the creation of, implement and deliver EHS plan and EHS Improvement Programme
  • Provide EHS advice for specialist safety programs and activities
  • Assist with the preparations and management of the site emergency planning arrangements
  • Undertake workplace inspections, Safe System of Work audits and behavioural observations to ensure correct practices are adhered to
  • Maintain and further develop Safe Systems of Work related to Permit to Work, Confined Space Entry, Isolation and Lock Off and Working at Height
  • Undertake internal audits in line with international standards
  • Provide general EHS support and input to process safety assessments such as HAZOP
  • Support the continued development of EHS policies and procedures
  • Participate and lead EHS investigations
  • Deliver internal EHS training
Are you the ideal candidate?

You will have:

  • Minimum of a NEBOSH General Certificate or similar H&S qualification
  • Previous EHS experience within a manufacturing, engineering, industrial process driven environment
  • Understanding of EHS Legislation and working knowledge of ISO14001, OHSAS 18001, COMAH and Environmental Permitting along with experience of auditing
  • Ability to confidently communicate at all levels and clearly deliver information
  • Strong team work ethic with the ability to build strategic working relationships
  • IT proficient in Microsoft Office suite
