Job Description

Environmental Scientist required to join the Land Quality team (Geoenvironmental-Geotechnics) to work on Environmental Statements. The projects are due to start in the coming weeks, continuing to at least February 2022. The role requires 3-5 years experience, which can be more Highways projects -Contaminated Land; Environmental statements and reporting.

A66- ES commencing September
A120 - Junction 24-25 addendum ES; November to February
A358 - Environmental statement October - February
M3 - Junction 9 Advice
East -West Rail - Preliminary Environmental report (PEIR) November 2021
Luton ES and supporting ground investigation reports September - February

Experience required:

Demonstrable understanding of the environmental and regulatory framework of UK with respect to land contamination.

Writing environmental statements - geology and soils, contaminated land.

Experience in preparation delivery of Environmental Impact assessments and Environmental Statements, Phase 1 Desk Studies/Preliminary Risk Assessments (PRA), Phase 2 Site Investigations.

Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines.

Good communication skills (both written and verbal).

Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.

Qualifications:

Working towards or willing to work towards chartership. i.e. RTPI, IEMA.

Desirable but not essential skills:

First degree in a relevant engineering or science subject.

Master's level (MSc or MEng) degree in environmental science or related subject.

Experience and knowledge of generic and detailed risk quantitative risk assessments.

Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).

Skills in GIS.
