You'll be working for Saint-Gobain Building Distribution (SGBD) Jewson Civils in Norwich. Jewson Civils is one of more than 30 exciting Saint-Gobain brands in the UK and we supply materials for major infrastructure, housing, utilities and industrial/commercial development projects, ranging from pipe fittings and drainage to hard landscaping and street furniture. But we are so much more than just a materials distributor.

There is some specific experience, skills and knowledge we are looking for from suitable candidates:

Proven experience in a proactive sales/customer focused environment
Ability to communicate and influence
Ability to work within a team locally and nationally
Numerical aptitude
Knowledge of the industry preferred but not essential
Proficient MS Office skills
A basic understanding of the market and product knowledge
Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Proactive, flexible and enthusiastic attitude
Able to create and maintain successful relationships
Able to handle difficult situations and diffuse conflict

What will I be doing in the role?

Our Sales Specialists are important contributors to the performance of the business and to ensure our customers have a positive experience with us. As part of an internal sales team, you will be expected to build relationships and develop sales opportunities with internal/external customers and suppliers. To support our customers effectively you will:

Continuously look for opportunities to improve product and industry knowledge
Develop market growth in chosen customer and product segments by driving proactive sales
Ensure that the branch is the best provider of customer service locally and nationally as defined by the Customer
Support all Company Customer Service initiatives
Ensure compliance with SGBD Business Control procedures
Maximising customer interactions to support achievement of sales and profit targets through upselling and cross-selling relevant products offering specific product advice
Developing new customer accounts and lapsed accounts
Realising full potential of all customer interactions and build strong, effective relationships with customers and suppliers, managing feedback accordingly
Ensuring all customer orders are fulfilled in a timely fashion
Following plans to continuously improve customer experience
Understanding local market issues and communicate to Manager to support sales growth plans
Advise customers on trading terms and conditions and information in relation to customer accounts and credit levels
Create value only credits.
