Job Description

Our local authority client has a 4-month contract vacancy (with the possibility of extension) for the role of a SURVEYOR BUILDING - ESTATES AND FACILITIES, details as follows

Job Purpose

To provide a comprehensive surveying and project management service for the purposes of maintaining the Organisation's housing stock and other assets.

Responsibilities

Manage allocated capital maintenance projects, ensuring works are undertaken in a safe and professional manner.
Project manage and survey building maintenance works and services contracts arising from the Estate and Facilities operational plan. Ensure compliance with contract specifications, the Organisation's constitution, legal obligations, and project design briefs.
Proactively identify, explore and develop capital improvements, planned maintenance projects and building services works from initiation to completion ensuring time cost and quality constraints are met.
Manage the presence of asbestos in Organisation buildings as required by the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 and successive legislation.
Manage the briefing, design, procurement, and handover of delegated major capital projects by leading internal / external consultants successfully through the development, design and construction processes in accordance with the Organisation's constitution and contract regulations.
Prepare detailed project reports outlining scheme designs, options, life cycle costings and budget estimates for alterations and/or improvements to Organisation property. Produce and submit project appraisals as required.
Prepare specifications and working drawings for alterations and/or improvements, maintenance programmes and repair schedules, including the regular monitoring of progress and performance to ensure completion within budget and on time, keeping your line manager updated as to progress.
Survey and inspect Organisation property and facilities on a day to day basis in order to diagnose more complex building defects, investigate complaints from residents and other sources.Essential Requirements

Minimum qualification Level 4 (min ONC) in relevant subject.
Relevant experience of working in building maintenance and / or construction.
Relevant experience of contract and project management.
Working directly with members of the public.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of construction techniques and processes.
