Job Description

Country House Hotel on the outskirts of Cockermouth has a vacancy for the above position.

Someone with experience within quality hotels, you will be a Sous Chef currently looking to shortly move up to the position of Head Chef after working for a brief period with our chef managing consultant.

This positions salary mirrors the skills and effort needed to succeed.

You will have autonomy over the menus and must enjoy developing junior members of the team.

Cleanliness and organisation is paramount.

About the Job

As Sous Chef you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in leading, inspiring and motivating the team, ensuring they have the culinary skills needed to maintain high standards. This is a busy environment that requires impeccable communication skills to ensure the team deliver exemplary food and service consistently. You will be responsible for staff rotas ensuring we have the right staff on site depending on business needs. Menu development. It is essential that you can work in a highly pressured environment.

You will ensure that food hygiene practices are monitored and maintained to provide a safe and clean working environment. It is also essential that you understand food costs thus ensuring you can deliver profitability, efficiency and guest satisfaction, without compromising on quality or availability.

About You

It's essential that you have:

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
  • Be ready to take the role as head chef.
  • Strong management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate.
  • Strong customer services focus with the motivation to consistently drive high service levels.
  • The ability to work in a high-pressured environment.
  • Results driven and motivated.
  • Proven experience of managing, developing and leading successful teams.
  • Previous experience of financial and management information i.e. forecasting and managing budgets, revenue, costs.
  • Sound awareness of health and safety, food hygiene, COSH and HACCP legislation.
